Bathinda: Deputy Election Commissioner Sandeep Saxena, CEO Punjab VK Singh and V K Bhawra, ADGP-cum-police nodal officer said that the ensuing 2017 Punjab Assembly elections will be conducted peacefully and in a transparent manner.
A meeting of the representatives of political parties of district as well as election staff was conducted under the Deputy Election Commissioner Sandeep Saxena, CEO Punjab VK Singh and V K Bhawra, ADGP-cum-police nodal officer regarding the Vidhan Sabha elections 2017at the mini secretariat.
He added that the main motive of holding this meeting was to ensure the election preparedness of civil and police administration. He added that election commission wanted to ensure that no eligible voter was left out without a vote. He especially asked the district administration to ensure that youngsters between 18 to 19 years of age are enrolled as new voters. He added that as per the orders of election commission around 20 percent of the polling stations would be covered under web casting service which the ECI can directly access at centre level.
During meeting the District Election Officer Ghanshyam Thori said that the district administration was committed to holding elections peacefully. He added that under the SVEEP campaign people were being motivated to get enrolled as voters.
The political representatives told commission that certain polling stations required monitoring by the Para Military Forces to which the election commission officials said that same would be done wherever required. ADGP Bhawra said that if any one faces any problem regarding election law and order, the person should call at 1950 and the needful will be done.
