Chandigarh: The apex Sikh Body Sharomani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee said that the Punjab government is telling lie on the role of SGPC in controversial PSEB Class 12 history book.
As per The Tribune reports SGPC chief Gobind Singh Longowal rubbished the claims of the government at a representative of the committee — Dr Paramveer Singh — had participated in the deliberations of the syllabus committee on 20 occasions. In fact, he only received drafts of some chapters of the book and his suggestions were not incorporated in the final draft, he revealed.
The SGPC has convened a meeting with members of the Dharam Prachar Committee on May 7 at the Teja Singh Samundari Hall in Amritsar to deliberate on attempts to “belittle” Sikh history in the school curriculum in the state.
While talking to media persons SGPC chief Gobind Singh Longowal said a resolution on “deleting” references to the Sikh struggles from the textbooks was also passed. The Sikhs have a glorious past and what would be left if all unparalled sacrifices, trials and tribulations of the community were overlooked, he questioned.
