Asifa rape and murder: Sikh engineer donates one month salary to the family



Pampor: As per media reports a Sikh engineer from Tral has decided to donate his one month salary to the family of  Asifa who was murdered after rape in kathua, Kashmir.

Expressing his solidarity with the family, thirty-two-year-old Harminadar Pal Singh has decided to donate his one month salary. Singh is working as a Junior Engineer in Power Development Department is a resident of Gameraj village of Tral.

While interacting with media, he said that this barbaric act should not be seen through the prism of religion but humanity.

“It is my moral duty to help a nomadic family who has been made to suffer, and since I am blessed with a job and donation of one month salary would not make me suffer,” he said, “Asifa was like my own daughter”, reads a quote in Kashmir Reader.

He demanded stringent action against the culprits as well as those who tried to save them.

“They should be given harsh punishment so that it will deter others from such acts in future,” he said.

Singh said that the modesty of women must be respected and Asifa was not the daughter of the nomadic family only but of the whole country.

It may be recalled that eight-year-old Asifa from the Bakherwal community in Kathua district was raped and murdered on January 17 this year, a week after she went missing while grazing horses in the area.
