Patiala: As per media reports Sikh political prisoner Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana urged all political parties and religious organisations to maintain peace and harmony on the occasion of the 33rd anniversary of Ghallughara 1984 on Tuesday.
In a letter written from Patiala’s central jail, Rajoana appealed all the Sikh religious and political organisations to shun their differences and pay homage to the ‘martyrs’ of the Ghallughara 1984 notes in Hindustan Times.
As per report Rajoana’s two-page handwritten letter was released by his sister Kamaldeep Kaur to media in Patiala on Tuesday.
He asked all factions to maintain dignity of the Akal Takht . “We should pay homage to all martyrs by reciting ‘Gurbani’ only and not raise any slogans,” he wrote.
Rajoana, is the prime convict in the assassination of then Punjab chief minister Beant Singh on August 31, 1995.
It’s notable that Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) chief Kirpal Singh Badungar held a meeting with SAD (A) president Simranjit Singh Mann and Dal Khalsa leader Kanwarpal Singh to commemorate Ghallughara 1984 event peacefully and unity.
