Girl killed in firing at wedding in Punjab


Hoshiarpur: As per media reports A 22-year-old woman was killed in a celebratory firing during a pre-wedding function in Chhatta Bazar of Hoshiarpur on Saturday late night.

The deceased identified as Sakshi Arora, a resident of Hoshiarpur  who was pursuing her last year in Masters of Business Administration (MBA) at a APJ College Jalandhar.

The main accused of the firing has been identified  as Ashok Khosla whose daughter was going to be married on Sunday.The second accused is Khosla’s friend Ashok Sethi, who was firing from his double barrel .12 bore gun.

It has been reported that  Khosla, who had organised a DJ party at his residence on the occasion of his daughter’s pre- wedding function ( Lady Sangeet ), was inebriated at the time of the incident.

The incident that took place at around 11.30 pm on Saturday. The Police have arrested the accused identified as Ashok Khosla and recovered his licensed .32 bore revolver, from which the fire was shot.

The police have also booked another accused Ashok Sethi, Khosla’s friend, who was also firing in the air from his double barrel rifle during the function.

Charanjit Arora, deceased’s father in his first information report (FIR) stated that his daughter was standing on the terrace watching the DJ party organised by their neighbours when bullet hit her on the head.
