Ropar: After denying permission for the bhog ceremony of a Dalit woman by gurdwara management in Sangrur, a resident of Barsalpur village near Chamkaur Sahib has alleged that he was denied ‘Saroop’ of Guru Granth Sahib for the last rites of his father.
As per media reports Jagdev Singh alleged that when he went to Gurdwara Sant Baba Amardas, granthi Ranjit Singh didn’t allow him to take the ‘Saroop’ to his home to perform ‘antim ardas’ of his father.
He further alleged that he was denied ‘Saroop’ as he was a Dalit.
A complaint has been lodged in this regard with Jathedars of the Akal Takht and Takth Sri Kesgarh Sahib and management of Gurdara Katalgarh Sahib, he said.
Denying the allegation, granthi Ranjit Singh said Jagdev was only asked to ensure cleanliness in the room where the ‘bir’ was to be kept.
It is pertinent to note that After the incident of the management committee of the gurdwara refuse to perform antim ardas of so-called dalit woman in Sangrur, SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal also met the Dalit family of Kaka Singh on Sunday and formed a two-member committee to probe the matter.
