New “United Sikh Party” on the dais of Sikh politics

Ludhiana: As per media reports after flouting Janta Akali Dal by HSGMC chief jagdeesh Singh Jhinda, a new-United Sikh Party (USP) floated here on Sunday.

Party Convener Bhai Jarnail Singh said that the new party will be run by a panel of five ‘amritdhari’ (baptized) Sikhs.

They included Bhai Jarnail Singh, Bhai Jatinder Singh Rajpura, Bhai Kulwant Singh Moga, Dr Harnek Singh Amritsar and Bhai Sukhjinder Singh Bassi Fatehgarh Sahib.

Bhai Jarnail Singh said that the mandate of the party will be to liberate Akal Takht Sahib and Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC)  and other Sikh institutions and religious places from the control of established political parties whose conduct is contrary to the Sikh tenets.

“Time has come to depoliticise these religious institutions,” said Bhai Jarnail Singh.

He said only those whose belief and conduct was in accordance with the Sikhism should become its members. “The party will soon launch a membership drive in Punjab” he said.
