Chandigarh: As per media reports Punjab police claimed to arrest three more Sikhs, involved in alleged militant activity. According to police the suspects were allegedly planning to carry out killings and blow up railway tracks in partnership with Kashmiri militants.
Police claimed that an arms consignment intercepted by the BSF and the Punjab Police last week on the Indo-Pak border in Amritsar was reportedly meant for them.
A police spokesperson said Gurdial Singh of Road Majara in Garhshankar division of Hoshiarpur and Jagroop Singh of Chandpur Rurki in Nawanshahr, both of whom got training in Pakistan in November last, have been arrested, notes in The tribune.
The third accused was their local help, Satwinder Singh, who also belongs to Jagroop’s village.
The police said Gurdial was in regular touch with Balvir Singh Sandhu, who is based in Germany and originally belongs to Paddi Surat Singh village in Mahilpur area of Hoshiarpur, during his visits to Pakistan.
Both Gurdial and Jagroop were tasked to carry out terrorist attacks in India, including targeting of various ‘anti-panthic and anti-Sikh forces/individuals’. Two weapons, including a .32bore pistol (one magazine, 10 cartridges ) and .38 bore revolver (7 cartridges) have also been recovered from them,the police said.
