Anandpur Sahib: As per media reports SGPC chief Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar said that Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh would address to the Sikh nation from Akal Takht on June 6, the 33rd anniversary of Ghallughara 1984.
“Akal Takht is a sacred institute of Sikhs. It is the duty of every Sikh to protect its honor. There can be differences among individuals, but no one can oppose Akal Takht,” Badungar added.
The SGPC president hoped that Sikhs would display unity and remember the martyrs.
Sikh hardliners have been objecting to the customary address by Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh.
The Dal Khalsa has demanded that he be replaced before June 6.
According to The Tribue they asked the SGPC that in case replacing the Jathedar was not possible, he should not be allowed to deliver the address. Instead, Badungar or Akal Takht head granthi should deliver the address.
The SGPC chief rejected the demand.
