Sacrilege incidents: Justice Ranjit Singh Commission to complete inquiry in May




Moga: As per media reports Justice Ranjit Singh Commission, who is probing sacrilege incidents, will complete the inquiry and finalise its report by May-end.

Justice Ranjit Singh (Retd) said while interacting with media persons at Daulatpura Niwan village in Moga district on Thursday. He visited Chugha Khurd, Rode, Daulatpura Niwan, Ghal Kalan and other villages in the district, where such incidents had taken place. He interacted with hundreds of people and inquired about the incidents.

The commission has already visited more than 90 places, including Behbal Kalan and Bargarhi villages, where two Sikh youths were killed in police firing.

He said the commission was inquiring into at least 122 incidents of sacrilege, which took place in 2015 and 2016.

The Capt Amarinder Singh government had constituted the Justice Ranjit Singh Gill Commission in April last year to probe all cases of sacrilege in the state and Behbal Kalan police firing.
