Amritsar: As per media reprts Sharomani Akali Dal Amritsar (SAD) will fight the legal battle for 523 employees shunted by SGPC.

Jarnail Singh Sakhira, general secretary of SAD (A), said they would provide legal aid to the aggrieved employees who were shunted out after the change of command at the SGPC.

Those who were terminated were mostly deputed with the educational institutions run by the SGPC, whereas the rest of them were absorbed in administrative wings of gurdwaras. These employees had approached SAD (A) president Simranjit Singh Mann for assistance who decided to fight a legal battle on their behalf.

SAD (Amritsar) spokesperson Iqbal Singh Tiwana said two lawyers —Simran Singh and Karanraj Singh have been deputed for the purpose.

Its pertinent to note that around 700 appointments were made during the tenure of former SGPC president Kirpal Singh Badungar. Out of these, the services of 523 were terminated by Gobind Singh Longowal after the executive body reportedly found these appointments not complying with the service norms under the Gurdwara Act, 1925.
