Amritsar: Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) declared to close its institutions on April 13 as a mark of protest against the release of controversial movie Nanak Shah Fakir.
The SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal on Thursday said that the SGPC was duty bound to comply with the directive of the Akal Takhat Sahib on the issue. An appeal has been made to the Sikhs to observe a peaceful protest against the movie.
All the Sikhs have also been asked to wear black turbans on April 13 as a mark of protest.
The Akal Takht on Thursday ex-communicated the maker of controversial film ‘Nanak Shah Fakir’ from the panth.
The decision taken by five high priests on Thursday at Akal Takht secretariat. Akal Takht jathedar Gurbachan Singh pronounced the decision of clergy from the podium of the highest temporal seat.
The Sikh community was appealed to stage protest if the film is released, but in a peaceful manner.
