Abohar: As per media reports The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) will contest the Rajasthan Vidhan Sabha elections expected to be held by December.
Party leader Sikander Singh Maluka, who has been appointed as SAD Rajasthan in charge, said that Party has decided to try its luck in the Rajasthan. He was addressing a meeting here at Gurdwara Sukha Singh Mehtab Singh in Hanumangarh on Monday.
The organisers of the meeting said a plan to launch Dharam Prachar Lehar would be discussed besides demanding representation in the SGPC. They told Maluka that the state government had not completed the process of appointing Punjabi language teachers.
“SAD will explore possibilities of having an election alliance with any political party other than the Congress,” he said.
Local leaders demanded that Hanumangarh should also be given a representation in the SGPC. They felicitated Maluka by presenting him a siropa.
While assuring to take up the issues with SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal, Maluka announced that the party would contest the next Rajasthan Assembly elections and candidates would be selected in consultation with soon to be formed SAD district units.
Gurdwara Singh Sabha president Inder Singh Makkasar, Dalbara Singh Singhpura, Shiv Charan Singh and Paramjit Kaur Sidhu, Baba Manjinder Singh and Baba Hardev Singh and Baba Darshan Singh were also present.
