Dehradun: As per the media reports Sikh Army personnel started work to remove snow route leading to Gurdwara Sri Hemkunt Sahib. Gurdwara Sri Hemkunt Sahib will open for pilgrims on May 25.
The Army team includes 25 volunteers of 418 Independent Corps and 117 Engineer Regiment have been deployed to remove snow within 15 days, said Narinderjit Singh Bindra, vice-president of Gurdwara Sri Hemkunt Sahib Management Trust
Narinderjit Singh Bindra said the Trust employees have been also sent to all the Gurdwaras situated on the way from Rishikesh to Sri Hemkunt Sahib. The first Jatha will depart on May 22 from Rishikesh and on May 25 from Gobindghat to have glimpse of Sri Hemkunt Sahib on May 25, he added.
Bindra further informed that special arrangements are being made for the convenience of pilgrims. “The Management Trust is liable to avail free food, accommodation, health care and other emergency services to pilgrims,” he said.
Situated at altitude of 15,197 feet, Sri Hemkunt Sahib is a Sikh shrine in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, related to Sri Guru Gobind Singh as par Dasam Granth.
